The best method for keeping unwanted body hair under control is waxing; it is quick, effective, and leaves you with lovely, smooth skin. Even if you are a seasoned hair removal veteran, it isn't always painless. There are a few simple things you can take to get ready before your waxing appointment to minimize pain and ensure the finest outcome.
Allowing your hair to grow to about a quarter of an inch before it is ready to be waxed will give the wax something to grip onto. If it's too short, the wax will adhere to your skin rather than your hair, and you won't obtain the ideal finish you want.
There is no magic period of time to wait for because everyone's hair grows at a different rate, but for the majority of clients, three weeks following the last shave is a fair rule of thumb.
If you leave your hair to grow too long between appointments, you'll start again. We all want your waxing experience to be as pain-free as possible because longer hair might be slower to remove and consequently more uncomfortable.
When you fully grow out your hair, you run afoul of the cycle of growth. Each waxing treatment is more effective, and you're less likely to develop unsightly, uneven stubble in between appointments if all of your hair is growing in at the same time.
While many people wait six weeks in between waxing sessions, you'll see the best results by scheduling appointments every three to four weeks.
If you're getting your chin, lip, or brows waxed, be mindful of any other skincare products you're using. We encourage our clients to moisturize the day before their appointments.
Alpha-hydroxy acids and retinol are two active chemicals in some serums and treatments that can make your skin more sensitive, so avoid using them the week before your visit.
More importantly, prescription drugs like Accutane, Retin-A, and Differin, whether ingested or topically applied, can cause skin sensitization and make waxing undesirable. If you use any skin treatments that a dermatologist has prescribed, let us know before your consultation.
You probably already exfoliate your face frequently, but it's equally crucial to exfoliate the rest of your body, especially the parts that will be waxed. Additionally, when the skin is exfoliated beforehand, you'll receive a smoother, quicker wax because dead skin cells can make it difficult for body hair to break through the skin surface, increasing the danger of ingrown hairs.
Take care of those dead skin cells by using a body scrub several times a week in the shower. This will prevent an excessive buildup.
The underarms and bikini area are also important to remember. Use a gentle washcloth to remove dead skin cells from more delicate regions without irritating the skin.
For optimal results, incorporate exfoliating into your body care routine and do so a day or two before your waxing appointment.
It can be awkward for some to get a standard or full Brazilian bikini wax, but as long as you're clean and in good health, there's no need to be concerned. Experts are always available who have performed this many times.
The method of hair removal that hurts the most is waxing. While it's not entirely painless, it usually ends before you really realize it's happened. While some people find the pain to be completely bearable, others prefer to take an over-the-counter medication prior to the session. It has plenty of time to start working and take the edge off—at least thirty minutes before.
If taking painkillers isn't your thing, consider using a more natural method. Simple breathing techniques, like those you may learn in a yoga class, will relax your body and lower your heart rate, which will make the pain significantly less bothersome. Breathing deeply, slowly, and consistently will go a long way toward making your waxing visit relaxing.
